This is all airbrush. I copied the palette from Dash’s storyboard and we used it for the final. It was just a test, but it worked – I added trees later – on same painting, first take. I’m learning quickly that backgrounds don’t have to be perfect.

These are photos of the background painting  for the shot in the teaser of Andy carrying Volunteer across the beach. I worked over the same long page, with photos taken at each step so that it’s a “live” painted animation.
